week #3 2025

Hi, I’m Martha Alex, a passionate content creator, full-time vlogger, and now stepping into the exciting world of blogging. After years of sharing my life through videos, I’ve decided to bring my experiences, thoughts, and stories into written form so you can connect with me on a deeper level. Through this blog, I’ll be posting weekly updates about my daily life, behind-the-scenes moments, personal reflections, and everything in between. Whether you’re a longtime viewer or a new reader, I hope you’ll enjoy following my journey in this new space just as much as you do on my vlog.

Day 1

The excitement ramped up as the culinary world took center stage on my show, “Yes, Chef,” where we fired up the heat and challenged chefs to push their creative boundaries in an intense and exhilarating test of skills, with the premiere scheduled for April on NBC that promises to captivate food enthusiasts and casual viewers alike.

Day 2

It is so fabulous to eat Iberico ham, and even better to savor it after watching a master carve it from the leg, as Chef Carlos is doing on the set of our new show, Yes Chef! Treated us to a cocktail party last evening. The star of the party was the ham secured in its stand. After cutting, the small bites are arranged artistically in designs on serving plates.

Day 3

The day began with a practical yet inspiring activity as I dedicated my morning to spring mulching: I prepared my gardens with homemade compost and mulch that neatly covered the beds, borders, tree pits, and alleys with an earthy finish that not only provided nourishment to the soil but also lent an organized beauty to the entire farm. Later in the day, I had the privilege of conversing with the remarkable Mickey Drexler on my podcast, where his engaging storytelling about building a lasting brand in the dynamic age of fast fashion and fleeting trends led to a riveting discussion about creativity, persistence, and the art of transforming challenges into enduring success.

Day 4

The week drew to a close with an enriching cultural encounter at Harvard University, where I joined Darch Miller’s daughter Daisy along with the passionate business staff of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals—the country’s oldest theatrical organization—to celebrate a tour de force performance co-produced by Daisy that not only highlighted an extraordinary work ethic and a playful sense of humor but also showcased the remarkable talent of a new generation, leaving me inspired by the power of creativity, tradition, and collaboration in shaping a vibrant future for the arts.

Day 5

Here is a perfect head of Savoy cabbage growing in my garden last summer—one of so many brassicas I grow every year. And they all start as tiny seeds planted in seed-starting trays in my greenhouse. This weekend is a great time to start some cruciferous vegetables from seed.

Day 6

One can almost taste these delicious fruits. I grow an abundance of peaches, pears, apples, quinces, cherries, medlars, and others every year. All my trees are very productive because they are so well maintained. My crew just pruned the trees in my orchard.

Day 7

It’s late in the planting season, but a late windfall of thousands of small spring-flowering bulbs was available from one of our favorite vendors, and we are taking advantage of a thaw in the ground to plant muscari, Scilla, camassia, ornithogalum, iris, etc., in masses along our stone walls for spring bloom! Jocelyn is lying on the ground to get planting photos. Ryan is supervising and placing the bulbs, and some of my groundskeepers are using dibbers and trowels to plant. Cannot wait to see the results come April and May!!!!!
